Member Development Funds (MDF)

 

TLOTL Members may apply for MDF to help cover costs of AQs/ABQs, other training and books that will augment their knowledge and/or skills as a teacher.

Members may apply for MDF during the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) in which the learning was completed, or the resource purchased. Members may access the fund once per fiscal year.

  • AQ/ABQ – Any AQ or ABQ (NOTE: a senior AQ/ABQ is only eligible if it is for your QECO placement)
  • Other training  – Members can apply to offset the costs for other events. Examples: ETFO summer academy, Activated Learning, OMEA etc. (NOTE: we do not provide release time)
  • Books – For the purchase of books that informs your learning. Example: A book such as how to teach Daily 5, UFLI or how to do Math Talks. (manipulatives, toys, student workbooks, story/picture books, reproducibles, blackline masters are NOT permitted)
  • Receipts and supporting documents must be provided to substantiate this information.
  • Funding will be provided on a first come basis for as long as the funds remain available.
  • Applications must be received by the June deadline listed on the application form.

For the remainder of 2024-2025

We have added additional one-time funds of $9,000 to our MDF program (from retroactive fees due to arbitration decisions.) As a result, we are simplifying the application process for 2024-2025.

  • You must be an active, working member OR on a statutory (ie mat leave) leave to be eligible.
  • If taking an AQ or ABQ ending in June 2025, please contact the President for instructions.

FOR 2025 – 2026. (Please note changes to criteria – EXCEPTIONS will NOT be made.)

  • You MUST work 30 assignments (or days), in the 2025-2026 year to be eligible
  • DO NOT apply prior to fulfilling the work requirements
  • Proof of work will be required
  • If you leave the Local – leave the Board, move to 1.0 permanent prior to completing the 30 assignments, you WILL NOT be reimbursed.
  • The AQ/ABQ/Resource/PD MUST be completed/be purchased between July 1 2025 and June 30 2026
  • Funding is on a first come basis
  • ** If taking an AQ or ABQ ending late June 2026, please contact the President for instructions.
