Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teachers’ Local

We are one of 31 Occasional Teacher locals of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (E.T.F.O.) which represents over 83,000 teachers, and education workers in Ontario. Occasional Teachers replace classroom teachers on a daily or long term basis whenever a teacher is absent.

Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teachers’ Local (TLOTL) represents approximately 400 qualified Occasional Teachers in The City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton and Muskoka regions. The Local protects the rights of our members, negotiates and upholds collective agreements, and serves as a vital link to ETFO.

Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teachers’ Land Acknowledgement

The Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teachers’ Local acknowledges that we are on the traditional lands and waters of the Three Fires Confederacy comprised of the Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi Nations, as well as communities from the Huron/Wendat Nations, the Mohawk Nation, the Mississaugas and the Métis Nation of Ontario. These lands are covered by the Williams Treaty of 1923 and the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.

Under the One Dish with One Spoon Wampum, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Anishinaabe Peoples agreed to share and care for this territory for the benefit of future generations. We honour their stewardship and commit to walking the path of reconciliation through learning, relationship-building, and advocacy for justice.
